The Yard Sailors

Bluegrass ensemble The Yard Sailors formed at Oberlin Conservatory in Ohio, where each of the members were studying in different areas (guitarist Jace Mason in Jazz Composition, banjoist Max Allard in Classical Composition, mandolinist Otto Allard in Jazz Performance, double bassist Eva Paddock in Classical Performance and Katie Galt in Independent Studies). They play a mix of original tunes, traditional bluegrass and fiddle tunes. While at Oberlin, the band received coaching from Chris Eldridge, Jacob Jolliff, and Jesse Jones. The Yard Sailors have played in and around Oberlin at Riverdog Retreat, Slow Train Café, 123 Fest, house concerts, Oberlin Folk Festival, and Big Parade.

WOBC, Oberlin’s radio station, invited The Yard Sailors to perform on Live from Studio B. You can stream or buy four tracks from that session on Bandcamp.
